The quick answer
The right check-up interval depends on your oral health and risk. A fixed six-month rule does not suit everyone.
What a check-up discusses
A dentist examines the teeth, gums and mouth and asks about general health and concerns since the last visit. Diet, smoking and cleaning habits can be discussed along with the timing of the next review.
Ask for your own recall interval
Some people need more frequent checks than others. Your dentist should recommend the interval based on your condition and risk of future problems. Treatment appointments are separate from routine reviews.
New symptoms should not wait for a recall date
If a concern appears between scheduled checks, contact the dental practice instead of waiting automatically for the next routine visit. At our Sector 16 clinic, call to check appointment availability and describe why you wish to attend.
Questions for your Sector 16 consultation
- What did the examination find?
- When should I book my next routine review?
- Are any treatment visits separate from that review?
- Which changes should make me contact you sooner?
- Can I receive the next steps in writing?
